Richmond – Christ the King of Peace
A bit of history
The Patronal Feast: the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year
About the Patron of the parish
The Second Person of the Blessed Trinity Who in accord with the Divine Will became Man, died, and rose again for the salvation of all human beings. He established a Church to bring that salvation to all people principally through the Liturgy. This centrality of Christ in the History of Salvation can be seen more vividly by utilizing four of His titles: (1) Mediator, (2) Priest, (3) Prophet, (4) King.
Jesus is King because of the mysterious union that links His human nature with the Divine nature of the Second Person of the Trinity. He is King also by acquired right – because of the redemption of the human race that He accomplished. He is King too because of the glorification He received from the Father, in return for His total offering of self, in His Resurrection and Ascension. Jesus will exercise this Kingship for all eternity and in a special way at the Last Judgment.
