About the Patron of the parish

Martin de Porres

This mulatto, born in Peru, became a Dominican lay brother and quite active in caring for the sick throughout Lima. Besides establishing a founding hospital and orphanage, he ministered to African slaves sent to Peru. He is the Patron of Interracial Justice and Hairdressers.
