Msgr Alcaster died

Msgr J. Joseph Alcaster died.

msgr AlcasterFr Joe, as we have called him, was born on 8th of August 1929 in Cradock. Though his family wasn’t reach he received a good education and still better upbringing. To live with and according Christian values was his main life-motto. When hearing calling to priesthood, he wanted at first to become a Sacred Heart Father, but was advised to be a diocesan priest and was accepted by Rt.Rev. Bp De Palma to serve in Diocese of De Aar. During his long years of priestly life he served in nearly all parishes of our diocese.

Last years of his life he spent in Bishop’s House at the Cathedral, earnestly helping the elderly and sick people in nearby hospital. He died on March 18th 2017.

May his soul rest in peace and may God give him a place in the heavenly kingdom.

Msgr J. Alcaster’s funeral will take place on Saturday, March 25th at 10.00 am in St. John’s Mission parish church, where he was a long time parish priest.
