  19th Sunday O.T.  – 2018

“Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him come to me”

There is no learning without listening. If we want to learn something or anything, we need to listen to anybody, do we consider the person to be wise or not. Listening is the first step to wisdom. Who does not listen to anybody is not able to learn anything. And this is only our doing. Nobody is going to teach us anything if we do not want to listen to.

Jesus talks about listening to his Father. He, himself, talks with Him often, and when talking, He listens as well. Now and then, he says that he has told us – his disciples – everything he learned from his Father. If he did not listen to his Father, he would not learn.

A prayer is a moment not only of our talking, though often it happens, it is the time of listening to, as well. When we present our petitions to God, let us take a few moments to listen to God speaking through and to our hearts, to our minds, through our daily situations. Let us give a chance to God to say a word of wisdom, and let us give a chance to ourselves to hear what He wants to say to us.

Don’t be in a hurry. Whenever we give time to God it is never wasted. It is an investment, the best investment. Time spent with God comes back to us with His blessing. We will do whatever we need to do in a shorter time and in a better manner.

Let us offer some time to God daily. Let us make of that our daily habit and we will see God’s work in our life.
