The Sunday of Good Shepherd

 4th Sunday of Easter – 2018

The Sunday of Good Shepherd

“I am the good shepherd (…) I will lay down my life for the sheep”

Each one of us has somebody to love and is loved by somebody. Sometimes we say that we someone above all. Let us take a test:

-      Would you give everything that you have to the one whom you love?

. . . . . . ?

-      Would you offer yourself to the one you love?

. . . . . . ?

-      Would you give yourself – your entire being – to be eaten by the one you love?

. ? . ? . ?

That is cannibalism?! – many would say.

Yes, it is. We might be consumed in many ways. Parent i.e. work themselves to death – they are being consumed – for the welfare of their children. Others for some other reasons are doing the same.

Let us ask in a different way: do you find – are you able to do so – anyone who would do that for you? Is there anyone who loves you so much so to offer him/herself as food for you, for your life?

Yeah, that is difficult. Yeah, that is a true love.

This is how our Lord, Jesus Christ, loves us. He gives his life for each one of us. Are we able to imitate Him at least a bit?

Let us try to be a bit more loving to each other.
