5th Sunday of Lent – 2018

“Whoever serves me must follow me and where I am, there also will my servant be”

As followers of Jesus we acknowledge that He is our King and Master, who with His life gives us an example how to live and what to do so that we may get to heaven. He not only shows us the way but He is the WAY to God’s Kingdom.

There is no other way for us. If we have accepted baptism (as well all other sacraments) we cannot be His disciples only by name, we need to prove that by our way of living. To do so, it is necessary to know about Jesus, that is to read the Gospel, and to know Him through our personal relationship with Him, that is prayer.

There are no difficulties in doing so. We are able to read or at least to listen to the Gospel as other read it. We are able to converse with others, so we do the same with Jesus.

Talking and listening to Him every day help our hearts and minds to be open to Him and His inspirations, and to understand ourselves and Him better. Then, I think, understanding why and how Jesus was acting, we will be much able to imitate Him – meaning serve Him – much, much better.

Those who behave and act as Jesus did, will get there where His is now: in/to the eternal Kingdom of God. Let’s do so.
