3rd Sunday of Lent – 2018

“they came to believe the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken”

There are many words that are written and spoken daily by many people. We read newspapers, we listen to the radio or watch the TV and absorb hundreds of words. Some of those words bring peace and satisfaction, other raise some negative emotion within us. Some of them are incredible, other just “may be”. And each of these words have an influence on us: on our behavior, on our way of living, and so on. When we do accept them they change us.

As Christians, we listen to and read the Word of God. We listen to the words that Jesus speaks to us at least every Sunday. Is this word of Jesus getting into our hearts or it is just another newspaper story which is passing without any impact on us?

Disciples of Jesus, that we call them apostles, “came to believe”, that means they have accepted Jesus’ word, the word of the Holy Scripture, as the truth, a word that will bring its fulfillment. His word leads us to happiness, not only on this earth, IT leads us to the happiness in eternity. God’s word brings peace and fulfillment in our life, as long as we do listen to IT and try – at least – try to live by this word.
