2nd Sunday OT – 2018

  2nd Sunday OT – 2018

“What are you looking for?” “Where are you staying?”

Our life is filled up with question-like situations. All of us are looking for an answer to our questions and we know that not each one of them is really satisfying. Besides that it is an art to ask a proper question.

Today, Jesus is challenging the future apostles and us, asking: “What are you looking for?” What are we looking for in our life? What is on the top of our list of needs, desires and dreams? What is the most important? Write down three most “looked for” elements. Is Jesus involved in our looking for? What do we expect from Him?

The disciples wanted to know “where He was staying”. I don’t think that they were interested in what kind of a house did Jesus have. The Lord Jesus invites them to see for themselves: “Come and you will see”. The spoken explanation often does not help, but to see with one’s eyes shows the true nature of things. Our words may hide a lot of things, but the image, an example, and experience show exactly what we mean in words.

Words may disappoint us, in seeing things we make our own judgment or opinion about things, matters or people. After they have seen, the disciples decided to stay that day with Jesus.

Jesus invited us to come to see Him, to see the place of His staying – the Church. Will we stay with Him? Will we make Him to be the part of our life? It is up to each one of us to consult Him and to remain at His side. He – as the prisoner of Love – always is waiting for us, being ready to get involved in all our matters which we may present to Him, and to find what we are truly looking for.
