26th Sunday OT – 2017

“He changed his mind and he went”

People are asking, we are asking others to do something, and not always, we or others are ready and willing to do it. Just like the first son in today’s Gospel. What does it take to change our and others minds?

First of all – I think – we need to see the value in fulfilling the request. It does no matter will it be physical like money, or other one like the prestige. The ideal would be to do it out of love, the love of our neighbor or the love of God.

God does, whatever He is doing, out of love. We, as Christians, as followers of Jesus Christ, wanting to imitate Him in our life, shall also be doing things out of love. Yet, we need to survive, to live, to provide for our families and relatives. Therefore, our doing is more a business-like. Something for something.

To change somebody’s mind, to change our mind is a not easy job. Actually, nobody is going to do that instead of us. We need to do it ourselves. Therefore we need to find the right reason for it. Do we like to…? Do we want to…? Why should we do it? There are many reason and arguments but we need to find and choose the one that will have the deepest meaning for us.

Let us ask God for inspirations and the strength for changing our minds. He will help us because He love us.
