17th Sunday OT – 2017

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure”

Would you become a treasure-hunter if I told you that three kilometers from your house there is a treasure hidden in the ground? Some other people have also received the message. You and others do not know what kind of a treasure it is. Would you just sit at home, doing whatever? Or, would you take a spade and go to search for it?

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure”. We do not know exactly what it is but we are assured by Jesus that it is very precious. It is worthy of selling everything that we own in order to get it.

To own the treasure, we need to make an effort. We need to:

-      Search for it;

-      Value it above all else;

-      Sell everything to have enough money to buy the field;

-      Dig it out.

Applying these to the kingdom of heaven we need to:

-      Search for it – study the Bible and reflect on it;

-      Value it – deepening our religious knowledge and understanding;

-      Sell everything – acknowledging the importance of the kingdom above all else;

-      Dig it out – make a real effort to live according our faith.

Are you ready to become the “heavenly treasure hunter”?

Do you value the kingdom of heaven more than anything else?

Let us reflect on these questions and do something great to become the owner of the heavenly treasure.
