Pentecost Sunday – 2017

Sending of the Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise. God always keeps His promises. But fulfilling His promise, He does not intend to do everything instead of us. He says: “I will help you, I will support you” not “I will do it for you”. He already has done a lot for us. Now, it is the time of our acting and doing.

The Sunday of the Holy Spirit reminds us that we have got a great support from our God – His everlasting assistance in the person of the Third Person of God – the Holy Spirit. He is a Consoler in our difficult times, He is the Advisor in times of our searching; He is the Educator and Teacher to remind us of everything that Jesus has taught us.

Do we call on Him in everything we are going to do or only then when we are in troubles? If yes, then we only try to make a business with Him. And He is not a businessman, He is God, and He is a Person. And we do not have a personal relationship with Him, then we are far from a real knowing Him and far from a true relating to Him.

May this Sunday be a real chance to change this situation. Let us try to develop a real and true relationship with the Holy Spirit who will lead us to true freedom of the children of God that we really are.
